WWAN connects to the Internet commonly through the usage of Wi-Fi or LMDS technologies. For a monthly usage fee, Internet WWAN users can connect to the Internet. The beauty of WWAN lies within th eportability and convenience of usage where the WWAN user can connect anywhere in the world where there is regular cell phone usage within their cellular plan.
Now many compluters come with WWAN capabilities built in with such technologies as HSDPA in Centrino where the computer has cellular technologies built in the computer in order to provide these wireless broadband internet services. A WWAN or wireless broadband internet computer can transfer information using Packet-switched Data Networks (GPRS/CDPD) or Circuit-switched dial-up connections.
In order to provide more security for those surfing the Internet using WWAN or other wirelss broadband internet technologies, the WWAN or wireless broadband services are encrypted or use many types of authentication services in orde to protect its user. Some providers of WWAN services include: Sprint Nextel, Verizon, or AT&T.
