Wireless broadband internet WiMAX & xMAX overview
Wireless broadband internet in a nutshell is basically high speed internet access without the use of wires. Nowadays, this type of wireless broadband internet can be found on any type of device that is used for communication purposes including PDA and laptop computers.
Before satellite wireless broadband internet, these were mostly WiFi or wireless fidelity connections.
These connections only allowed connections over local area networks or LAN. But, now internet connectivity has become much more advanced in terms of wireless broadband internet connection products.
One of these new technologies is WiMAX where it involves wireless broadband internet that can span over 30 miles. Far from being local (considering that WiFi was very limited to the small hot spots that allowed users to access the internet).
WiMAX is actually a bit costlier than our more traditional means of connecting to the internet, but there are other alternatives for wireless broadband internet users to connect to the internet such as that of xMAX and services offered through cellular companies which are helping pave the way to a more freely accessed internet globally.
One point we want to make about WiMAX versus xMAX is the major difference between what each means in terms of capabilities overall.
While WiMAX is much more limited to the 30 mile or so radius it covers, xMAX can actually use radio waves and frequencies to help move it along in order to help out wireless broadband internet users in less densely populated areas.
The xMAX technology is much more recent and not as readily available, but it soon will be available to many globally.
